This past week I officially chose my field of study as Military Psychology. Psychology itself is a very broad field varying in topics all the way from child psychology to clinical psychology. To be completely honest I was gonna choose clinical psychology because it seemed like an easier field of study, but I soon realized that I shouldn’t choose my field based on it’s easiness. I needed something that would challenge me so I started researching other topics when I finally came across Military Psychology. At this point, I realized that this is a field I can connect with due to my grandfather being in the Indian Army. So I went on google and tried to find all the military psychologists I could with in my area, but alas I only found one. Rather than quitting or complaining about the struggle I was going through, I broadened my search to trauma and PTSD psychologists. I found a couple of people who are specialized in PTSD or trauma care and started composing a list of contacts who I could potentially schedule interviews with. With Dallas, Texas being one of the fastest growing cities in the nation, I never expected the number of military psychologists to be so limited. This is just another problem I need to overcome and I know I will through my confidence and determination.
