Hello everyone, welcome back to my wonderful blog. The past week is ISM was one of the hardest weeks of my life. I was presented with the job of creating a ten to thirteen minute presentation and showcasing all I have done in my first semester of ISM to my peers. I went over topics such as cold-calling, scheduled interviews, and most importantly my original work. For my original work I created a suicide prevention program for active duty military personnel or veterans. I remember after the person in front of me gave her presentation I felt my heart pounding in my chest. I went from a normal heart rate at 83 to 157bpm. I specifically remember how my ISM teacher, Mrs.Brittain was telling me to use the breathe app on my apple watch to see if I could calm myself down but instead, it went even higher to 167bpm. Deep in my mind I knew that there was no where my heart was going to go down unless I went up to the front of the classroom and gave my presentation. So I put on my big girl pants, walked to the front, and got ready to give my presentation. After my presentation was finished, I was really upset because unfortunately my time only reached eight minutes. But I learned from this. I learned that I should work on the rate at which I talk. How I should engage my audience, and most importantly, how to properly incorporate humor into any of my presentations. Overall I am decently happy with how I presented military psychology except for the fact that I was two minutes short form reaching the time limit. I hope for my next presentation I present in a more common manner, definitely make sure I reach my time limit and make sure to have a lot of passion.
